I enjoy photographic equipment almost as much as I enjoy the photographs they make. For me, they are much more than just tools. They embody incredible technology in aesthetic packages, and so I’ve begun photographing them, to share my fascination with their beauty. I begin with shots of my little Canon G9 on a Novoflex tabletop tripod and Markins Q3 ballhead, taken with the Canon 1Ds Mark III. Then the Canon 1Ds Mark III is shown on a different Novoflex / Markins combination - shots taken with the Canon G9.
The G9 is currently one of the only fast RAW point & shoot cameras. It’s sensor is bigger than most point & shoots, but still only 1/20th the size (area) of the Canon 1Ds Mark III’s full frame sensor. Yet, at ISO 80, it can produce stunning 12 megapixel results. And it has many other pro features, such as a hot shoe, fully manual operation, and the ability to accept many attachments and lenses. See my review in the Digital Outback Photo Magazine for more information.
The Markins Q3 is the smoothest ballhead I’ve tried, beautiful to behold, and a pleasure to use. The Novoflex is very compact and quite sturdy, aside from being lovely to look at.
